The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer

Words to Keep, A Faith to Carry Through Generations

Beautiful Scripture wall art for little ones, growing families and every corner of the home.

Some words are too precious to be forgotten. Some prayers are meant to be carried through a lifetime.

At My Little Everything, we believe that the little things in life often become everything.

A whispered prayer before bedtime. A gentle voice in the quiet of the night. A parent comforting their baby during those early morning hours. A grandparent teaching a little one the words they once learned as a child.

These are the moments that stay with us.

And among the most beautiful words we can pass from one generation to the next are the words Jesus Himself taught us:

The Lord’s Prayer.

A Prayer That Lives On Through Generations

“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”
 Matthew 6:9 (KJV)

For generations, families have spoken these sacred words. They have been whispered beside beds, spoken around family tables, remembered in moments of uncertainty and shared in times of gratitude.

The Lord’s Prayer is more than a prayer we learn. It is a prayer we carry. It teaches us to honour our Heavenly Father, to trust in His provision, to seek forgiveness, to forgive others and to place our lives in His loving hands. And perhaps one of the most beautiful gifts we can give a child is the opportunity to grow up knowing these words. Not through pressure or expectation, but through love, familiarity and the gentle rhythm of everyday life.

A Little Scripture in the Places We Call Home

Imagine The Lord’s Prayer hanging quietly in a baby's nursery.

During those midnight feeds, when the rest of the world is sleeping, a tired mother or father looks up and sees the words:

“Give us this day our daily bread.” A simple reminder of God's provision, His goodness and His presence in the smallest hours of our lives. Imagine those same words in a child's bedroom. At first, a little one may simply notice the artwork. As they grow, they begin to recognise the letters, hear the prayer spoken aloud and perhaps one day recite it themselves.

First they see it. Then they hear it. Then they learn it. And one day, they may carry it into their own homes. That is the beauty of Scripture. Its meaning can grow with us.

Not Just for Nurseries, A Prayer for Every Home

Although our Scripture wall art is created with childhood and family life close to our hearts, The Lord’s Prayer belongs wherever there is a heart that welcomes it. In the nursery, it offers a gentle reminder of faith during those first precious years. In a child’s bedroom, it becomes a familiar presence as little ones learn, grow and begin to understand the words of Jesus. In the family kitchen, where meals are prepared, conversations are shared and daily life unfolds, it reminds us to be thankful for our daily bread. In the living room, it becomes part of the home we share with the people we love. In a parent’s bedroom, it offers a moment of peace at the beginning or end of a busy day. In a quiet corner of the house, it can create a little place for prayer, reflection and gratitude. There is no single perfect place for The Lord’s Prayer. Perhaps the best place is simply somewhere you will see it, remember it and return to it.

The Little Things That Become Everything

A beautiful piece of wall art may seem like a small thing but imagine a child growing up with The Lord’s Prayer hanging in their home. Imagine hearing those words spoken by a mother, a father or a grandparent. Imagine learning them by heart. Many years later, imagine that child grown, perhaps with a family of their own, sharing those very same words with another little life. A prayer that began in one home continues in another. From parent to child. From grandparent to grandchild. From generation to generation. The artwork may change. The homes may change. The years will pass but the words of Jesus remain.

For Thine Is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory

“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
— Matthew 6:13 (KJV)

These closing words of the traditional Lord’s Prayer are a beautiful declaration of faith. They remind us that beyond our busy days, our worries, our hopes and our plans, there is something greater. The kingdom, the power and the glory belong to our Heavenly Father, the Creator of heaven and earth. The Lord whom we love with all our hearts, forever and ever. Not simply as decoration, but as an expression of what we believe, what we treasure and what we hope to pass on.

A Prayer for Today, Tomorrow and Every Generation to Come

One day, the little ones we hold so closely will grow, their tiny hands will become bigger, their bedrooms will change, they will find their own paths, what a blessing if the words they heard in childhood remain somewhere in their hearts. What a gift if, in moments of joy or uncertainty, they remember the prayer Jesus taught us. What a beautiful legacy if they choose to pass those words on again.

Some words are for a lifetime and some prayers are for generations and generations to come.

With love and faith,

My Little Everything
