🌗 Two Sides of the Moon
Share
A world divided, a conscience awakened. There’s something about the moon and the sun, one illuminating the other and our God, who sees everything.
One side of the moon glows quietly over peaceful cities, summer holidays, and bedtime snuggles. The other side hides in shadow, silently watching over rubble, fear, and the quiet cries of starving children.
In our latest posts on @mylittle_everything, we showed this heartbreaking duality, the same moon, the same human capacity for love, but in devastatingly different realities.
While some of us are soaking in the golden joy of summer, others are barely surviving under falling skies. Where one child sleeps safely in their mother’s arms or tucked up in a warm comfortable bed, another clings to life in her emaciated embrace on a hospital floor or amongst destruction.
💔 A Moral Collapse.
As of July 2025:
Over 62,000 lives have been lost in Gaza. Millions face famine across Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, and more. Children are starving in front of our eyes while aid is blocked, weaponised, or politicised. International laws are being broken. Rights stripped. Humanity ignored.
👁 From Emaciated to Emancipated
Babies and children have been reduced to shadows of themselves. Their bodies are crying out for help we know the world can give. They are not numbers and they are not forgotten. These are the most cruel and avoidable human tragedies of our time and we have witnessed them in real time, on our phones, in our feeds, in our hearts. The whole world has seen. The whole world knows and yet, the suffering continues.
🧭 What Can We Do?
We are not powerless. Here's what we can do:
1. 🩺 Donate Where It Counts
Even small amounts can mean food, water, or urgent medical help.
Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF)
UNRWA – Emergency aid for Gaza
Be sure the org is transparent, working locally, and has a proven impact.
2. 📢 Speak. Share.
Don’t go quiet. Don’t wait for the news cycle to catch up.
Share real stories and images (with respect and consent). Talk to people, online or in person. Call it what it is: a humanitarian catastrophe. Use your voice, your art, blogs to help raise awareness and action. You might not change a government, but you might change a mind, or a heart.
3. 🖋 Email Your MP, Senator, Representative, Minister
Demand: A ceasefire. The end of arms deals that fuel this. More humanitarian access. Accountability for war crimes.
Find who represents you here (UK)
Or here (US)
That email might sit in an inbox... or it might land on a conscience.
4. 🧵 Support Grassroots, Diaspora & Mutual Aid
Sometimes small, local orgs move faster than the big ones.
Support: Community centres collecting donations. Verified GoFundMe links. Refugee-led initiatives on the ground. They often reach families directly, without political blocks.
5. 🕊 Keep Feeling. Keep Caring. Don’t Go Numb.
It’s easy to shut down. To scroll past. But feeling helpless is part of being human. Stay awake. Stay loving. Your heartbreak is a signal. Let it move you.
✊🏽 Let This Be the Last Time
If we want to raise children in a world worth growing into, then we must be brave enough to fight for the ones who may not survive tomorrow. Let them be seen, fed and safe.
Let them be free. Not next year. Not when it’s politically convenient. Now.
💌 Feel Helpless? Start Here. Write to Your MP.
If you're in the UK and feeling helpless, this is one real, tangible thing you can do today: Write to your MP here, it takes 2 minutes. 📢 The more of us who speak, the harder we are to ignore. Not sure what to say? Here’s a ready-made message you can copy and send:
Subject: Urgent Action Needed: Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza and Beyond
Dear [MP’s Name],
I’m one of your constituents, and I’m writing because I can no longer stay silent about the suffering in Gaza and other regions where children are starving and dying in real time.
I urge you to support: An immediate ceasefire. Unrestricted humanitarian access. An end to arms sales to warring parties violating international law. Accountability under international humanitarian law.
We cannot be bystanders to famine, bombings, and the slow death of an entire people. Please, take a public stand for justice and human life.
Sincerely,
[Your Full Name]
